Have you ever left the doctor’s office muttering to yourself “What an SOB-GYN”? Or “I can tell you where to take two of these, but I ain’t callin’ you in the morning!” Never fear. The Standardized Patient is here! We work with doctors- foreign, domestic, already practicing and students- to improve their communication skills so you never have to hear “You have Chlamydia. Because you’re a whore.” The SP’s at CS24U are committed to training doctors in the art of empathy, respect, and curiosity. Unfortunately, the communication board exam we teach was just cancelled. So, first, we have to save our jobs. Along the way there is a client to impress, snaps with a Z that get in the way, an unsuspecting doctor to hide, along with a mistress; a beautiful rendition of O Canada that will tug at your heart strings, and a host that will hop you along for the ride. Can we do it? Save our jobs and future generations from judgmental, insensitive, oblivious doctors? Come find out in this zany new farce about learning to communicate… or, at least, how not to.
